If you are looking for accessories or gifts that tell a story and you know are made ethically, look no further than Bohome + Roam. I came across Aimee (the mastermind behind B+R) a few months back after being consistently inspired by the stories behind the products they sell.

Bohome + Roam was founded ‘out of aspiration to live more freely, more sustainably and more connected with the planet, humans, body, and soul.’ Which completely aligns with their ethos being  ‘to create a lifestyle where both design and ethics are not compromised, and to inspire other humans to do the same. All of the items they sell are ethically made and only sourced from suppliers who follow fair trade principles.

That said, I thought why not show you some of these stories I’m talking about so you can understand fully yourself just the level of depth and care Bohome + Roam have gone into to ensure the products you buy are made with a story to tell.

Story 1: Threads of Peru | Peru
Threads of Peru is a not-for-profit social enterprise that has been working with artisans in the Andes since 2009. Their aim is to connect the world to handmade treasures, helping to strengthen the centuries-old Quechua weaving tradition and empower artisans.

Threads of Peru share this passion for traditional craft, and also invest in skills-building and capacitation for the weavers with whom they work to produce only the highest quality, 100% natural textiles. Threads of Peru works with weavers who are predominantly women. International development studies show that when women receive their own income, the health and well-being of their children improves at a much faster rate than when men have sole control of the family’s income.

Story 2: Woven Promises | Ethiopia
The design and creation of Woven Promises products endure a deep appreciation of the Ethiopian cultural heritage and traditions. The linen is handwoven from hand dyed soft and fine Ethiopian cotton. A proud member of the Fair Trade Federation, Woven Promises provides sustainable employment for the artisans who create handmade and fair trade woven goods.  The artisans and their families are given access to health care, transportation and a savings account.

Story 3: Fair Go Trading | Asia, India, Peru
Fair Go Trading is a wholesale Fair Trade and hand-made collection from the artisans of the world.  They work in partnership with communities in Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Peru and Indonesia. Fair Go Trading aim to bring change in the lives of partner artisans, their families and all of their communities to create a story of positive change.

These are three stories told on Bohome + Roam out of the current twelve different artisans they work with. That said I’m sure you can only imagine the incredible volume of both individual stories and impact that you can have by purely choosing to invest your money into products that you know were made from people who love what they do.
