Every Friday from now on, you can expect to learn about one epic ethical brand doing some pretty cool things. I am so excited to tell you about this week’s brand, FromFound.
Every single piece you buy from FromFound will be different to someone else’s, no two pieces are the same just like no two of us are the same. This is because they use ‘found’ fabrics to create their pieces -think reclaimed, recycled and recovered textiles. These one-off pieces though take it to another level because they are made purely to help create employment for women of refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds that are based in Adelaide.
As a not-for-profit this social enterprise really embodies the idea of helping to build a better place than the society we currently live in. FromFound’s vision is “To see refugee and asylum seeker women empowered with skills and training, transition into the mainstream workforce in Australia and to educate and inspire consumers to choose sustainable and ethical fashion.” Not only is it awesome to have a piece of clothing that is entirely one of a kind, but it’s awesome to know that the money you spend is going to help someone else -rather than in the back pockets of the mighty rich.
I’ve been lucky enough to grab an interview with the founders of FromFound, which you’ll be able to check out shortly.
